Rebekka is a Dutch, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish variant of Rebecca. Rebecca originates in Hebrew language and means "one who ties and joins". In the Bible, Rebecca was an important personality, the wife of Isaac and the mother of Jacob and Esau. In the United States it has always been one of the most popular feminine given names. It was popularized by Daphne du Maurier in her 1938 novel of the same name and a subsequent film directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
